National Assembly Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abassi on Sunday emphasised the active role of parliaments for conflict resolution in the South Asian region.
Addressing the inaugural session of China-South Asia Peace and Development Forum in Kunming, China, Abassi said peaceful resolution of conflicts and enhancing cooperation between neighbors would bring peace and development in the region and the world.
In his key note address, Abbasi said developing cooperative relations in the region and avoiding conflicts was imperative for peace and the parliaments of the region could play an active role in this regard.
“Pakistan has offered many sacrifices for regional peace and is ready to promote peace and development in the region. The Pakistani government is committed to establishing peaceful relations with its neighbours,” the deputy speaker said.
He expressed confidence that with the active support of China, the region would become peaceful and offered his gratitude to the Government of China for hosting the meeting.
