Centre with KP govt in hour of grief and sorrow: PM

Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif on Sunday assured the governor and chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of the federal government’s support in the province’s hour of grief and sorrow.

The prime minister telephoned Governor Engr Shaukatullah, and Chief Minister Parvez Khattak and expressed solidarity with them in the aftermath of the grave incident of bomb blasts targeting a church in Peshawar on Sunday.

Nawaz said he himself and the entire nation were shocked over the brutality of the incident, “which not only amounts to murder of our Christian brothers, sisters and children but it amounts to killing a nation”.

The prime minister said it was a national tragedy and the nation must stand as one to condemn this most unfortunate incident.

He called Minister of Interior Nisar Ali Khan immediately after his arrival at HeathrowAirport and directed the interior minister to keep him (the prime minister) abreast regarding the situation.

Nawaz also directed Nisar to devise a new security plan to protect worship places of all minorities including churches.

The prime minister reiterated his commitment to providing all possible support and assistance by the federal government to the provincial government including medical and logistical arrangements for the injured.
