Known gourmand. Eccentric dresser. Meticulous host. Scion of one of Pakistan’s press royalty families. And, oh, also our former representative to the United Nations.
Abdullah Hussain Haroon got his gig at the UN because of his proximity to the now former president. He was even being considered for caretaker PM. But he quit one day. And became vocally caustic of the government even before he actually quit his post.
Now that he is back in Karachi, rumour has it that he hasn’t even called his benefactor, the president even once.
I’m angry, you were good to me?

Two BBC reports on the country. One that says Lahore is the country’s liquor capital, with the hooch flowing like the Ravi. Scratch that, better than the unfortunate river.
Another paints a San Francisco-like picture of Karachi, labelling it the country’s gay capital, replete with gay “marriages” of sorts and orgies to boot.
All this is hogwash, of course. Because Karachi has its share of alcoholics and Lahore its share of queers as well.
