The law enforces have remained busy fighting crime in Karachi holding up a number of suspects, including three ransom-hunters, as well as rescuing an abducted banker.

Sources said that the police, during a general-holdup near Karachi Arts Council, randomly ordered a car to halt to seek identification of the passengers and the registration of the vehicle. Upon this the driver tried to break through the picket but was forced to bring the car to a screeching halt after seeing so many government guns pointing at him.

According to police it appeared that the occupants of the car tried to put up an armed resistance but decided otherwise. Allegedly they surrendered after a brief encounter.

Subsequent interrogation revealed that three of the four travelers were kidnappers, while the fourth one was an abductee, a manager of a local commercial bank, who they were moving to another place.

The arms laid down by the kidnappers and the car they were driving have been impounded.

The abducted banker was not hurt during the standoff.
