Owing to the negligence of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), encroachers have grabbed parking places, footpaths and streets in and around Aabpara market, creating trouble for shoppers and motorists. The influential encroachers have been enjoying the liberty of placing their goods and showcases on the footpaths and in streets for many years, while the civic authority does nothing other than issuing notices to small vendors and stall holders. The restaurants and drink shop owners place chairs and tables on the footpaths in the evening, obstructing the path for the shoppers. Some of the female shoppers in the market, talking to the INP said that the streets and footpaths in the market were already narrow, while the counters of mobile phone sellers, chairs and tables of restaurants and stalls of small vendors were further adding to the woes of the shoppers. They said that the condition of the market shows that the CDA was helpless in the face of influential encroachers. Meanwhile, motorists said that shoppers and visitors park their vehicles on the road around the market due to the lack of proper parking places. They said that the higher officials of the civic authority should take notice of the situation and resolve the problem.
