Pakistan has called for cessation of US drone strikes on its soil through urgent and intense dialogue.

Speaking during a UN Security Council debate on the situation in Afghanistan‚ Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Masood Khan, said drone strikes infringe our sovereignty‚ violate international law and cause civilian casualties.

He said drone strikes are also detrimental to the combined efforts to fight terrorism.

The Pakistan envoy stated that the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, during his recent visit to Pakistan, had also pointed out the adverse consequences of the use of armed drones.

He said the All Parties Conference in Islamabad had also recommended that the drone issue be raised at the United Nations.

Ambassador, Masood Khan, said Pakistan is facilitating the Afghan reconciliation process‚ but progress is attainable only if all stakeholders share the goals of the peace process.

He assured the government and the people of Afghanistan of Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan.

  1. indeed drone attacks are a blatant violation of the international covenants and the UN charter . the UN which has just a facade of a neutral referee in the world while factually it is the hen pact of America as such it cannot intervene to get the attacks stopped unless American asks it and America administration would not stop the attacks as long as it needs to stay on the claim of genuineness of the war of terror in the name of which it is fleecing trillions of dollars of the US tax payers. Pakistan will have to take a clear stand on getting drone attack stopped at any cost or it should wait till some miracle comes about to force America stop them.

  2. Ask him how many Pakistani soldiers have been killed in drone strikes and how many soldiers have been butchered by "our own people"?

  3. What can a toothless tiger like the UN do to stop drone strikes in Pakistan?
Imran Khan made such a fuss about drone strikes but to no avail.
If drone strikes infringe Pakistan's sovereignty then the Army should shoot them down because it has he means to do so.
As long as there is tacit approval drone strikes will continue.

  4. Hahaha do we really have any sovereignty? If others are doing ours job so what is wrong in it. No one can even dare to cross our borders had we been loyal to our country and moved forward according to the sayings and vision of Father Of the Nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The ones who objected for a separate homeland have now become custodians ……. Now Pay
