Youtube ban case referred to bench headed by CJ

Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Lahore High Court, has passes on the Youtube ban case to a larger bench headed by the Chief Justice.
Since the website’s ban by former PM, Raja Pervez Ashraf, nearly a year ago, a number of people have demanded that the website should be made accessible in Pakistan again. The former Prime Minister had banned access to the website after it had declined to remove the highly controversial film, The Innocence of the Muslims, from its contents.
The Lahore had asked the minister of IT to appear before the court in August in a petition challenging the ban on access to Youtube. The petitioner in the case at the LHC had argues that the ban, in reality, is counterproductive as it limits access to educational resources.
The government was considering lifting the ban after Eid-ul-Fitr but has still not put the decision to do so intro action.
