Poverty forces five sisters to commit suicide

Five real sisters committed suicide by jumping into Sutlej River on Thursday.

Body of one of them was recovered while search for the others was underway.

According to Saddar SHO Anwar Baloch, the poverty-stricken sisters, hailing from Himbalwala area of Mailsi tehsil came to Mailsi syphon and jumped into the river together.

Police said the names of the sisters were Fiaz Bibi, Zeenat Bibi, Muneeran Bibi, Nazia and Khamoun and they were aged between 17 to 28 years.

All the five deceased were unmarried and were passing through critical financial situation due to low income of their father Bashir Ahmed, a labourer.
