The dengue virus has completely paralysed life in Swat and now the disease is on its way to other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The death toll has risen to 31 in Swat while the condition of around 49 patients is stated to be in danger.
Reports from Swat say that more than 11,000 people have been affected by dengue. Around 400 of them are being treated in government hospitals while the rest are either at home or under treatment in private clinics and hospitals throughout the country.
The official data reveals that around 28 people, including women and children become fallen victims to the disease, while unconfirmed reports say 31 people have died. Amongst them two belonged to Buner.
So far there is no report of loss of life due to the disease in Dir, Shangla, Malakand but officials have confirmed receiving reports of dengue patients from these regions.
The latest reports reveal that more than 50 dengue patients have been registered in Mardan Medical Complex and other health units in the district.
Eight patients have also been registered in Malakand.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has already declared emergency in Swat and hospitals throughout Malakand division and has released Rs 50 million to the Malakand Health Department for the purpose.
The World Health Organisation and other UN affiliated agencies are also making contributions in combating the dengue virus in Swat.
