The future of 5 megawatt power production and methane gas project on dumping point (Losar) has come under threat along with the establishment of Rawalpindi Solid Waste Company.

The future of the project has become uncertain because of handing over the cleanliness arrangements of the city to a Turkish company. Rawalpindi Solid Waste Management (RSWM) has dug 7 wells for storing methane gas.

Sources from District Government said that RSWM needs to dig 200 more wells to produce 5 megawatt electricity at Losar, while more financial cooperation is required by provincial government for electricity production.

However, the provincial government is not showing interest in the project. RSWM was already facing difficulties in completion of this project, and now arrangements of cleanliness are being given to the Turkish company by eliminating the RSWM.

A regular Rawalpindi Solid Waste Company has also been established which has increased chances of elimination of this project.
