Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Director General (DG) Dr Rizwan Naseer held a meeting on Tuesday to review the quarterly performance of all District Emergency Officers (DEOs) at Rescue 1122 Headquarters.

The DG directed them to ensure service standard in all districts and tehsils.

He said that it was a historical initiative by the Punjab government to expand Rescue 1122 at tehsil level, adding that the Service is providing technical assistance to other provinces as well.

Director (Admin) Brig (R) Dr Arshad Zia, Deputy Director (O&A) Dr Fuad Shahzad Mirza, Deputy Director P&D Faheem Qureshi, DD Finance Naeem Mukhtar, Head of Community Training Wing, Rawalpindi Deeba Shahnaz attended the meeting.

Dr Rizwan stressed upon the DEOs to streamline matters related to operations, awareness and to focus on community development in order to educate people for prevention of emergencies.

Issues related to finance, human resources, planning and development, repair and maintenance and law were discussed in detail during the meeting.

RTA STATISTICS: A total of 496 road traffic accidents (RTA) were reported in Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Six lost their lives while 410 were seriously injured and around 177 victims sustained minor injuries.

According to details, 240 drivers, 9 underage drivers, 86 pedestrians and 267 passengers were among the victims of road traffic accidents. Statistics show majority of the accidents were reported from Lahore (115) followed by Faisalabad (53) and Multan (61). Moreover, 483 victims were male and 110 were female from varied age groups.
