- LHC restrains LESCO to appoint deputy manager
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday restrained on interim basis Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) to make any appointment as Deputy Manager in the company.
Justice Baqir Ali Najfi issued the order on a petition moved by LESCO’s Audit Officer Muhammad Ashraf who sought directions to promotion to the petitioner.
The petitioner through his counsel submitted that he had cleared an examination for the post of deputy manager and was at the top of seniority list to be promoted.
The lawyer contended that despite passing the examination and topping the list the department was not appointing him as deputy manager and trying to fill the post through hiring a new employee.
He requested the court to issue directions to the LESCO chief executive and other respondents to appoint the petitioner on the vacant post.
The court, after hearing preliminary arguments stayed the appointment till the final disposal of the petitioner. The court also directed the respondents to file a reply within two weeks.
