Hidden torture cell found

Police raided a torture cell set up by the Gaziabad Police in Harbanspura on Tuesday.

The police officials also rescued a 17-year-old boy tied up in the cell.

The Gaziabad Police constables and house owner escaped from the scene.

CCPO took the notice of the matter and ordered to SP Cantt to investigate the case.

 

COPS RESOLUTE AGAINST CRIME: On the orders of Punjab IGP Khan Baig, a crackdown against criminals is underway across the province.

Sialkot Police nabbed three criminal gangs and arrested 21 involved in car-lifting and electricity theft during the last week. Police also recovered illegal weapons and stolen money from their possession.

According to details, police arrested 9 members of Awais gang wanted in 47 crime cases and recovered gadgets and tools worth Rs 15 million from their possession, including 130 remote-control, 150 chip devices, 44 single-phase meter bodies, one transformer, scrap and other equipment.

Similarly, police arrested 4 members of Ijaz gang and recovered 21 stolen motorcycles and one car from their possession. Eight members of Don gang wanted in 14 cases of car theft were also arrested and six motorcycles, illegal weapons and one pump-action shotgun including five pistols were recovered their possession.

DPO Sialkot Gohar Nafees personally handed over the recovered vehicles and other valuables to their rightful owners.

 

COMMITTEE TO PRESENT REPORT ON CHILD ABUSE: IGP Punjab Khan Baig has constituted a three member committee comprising of Additional IGP Investigation Muhammad Amlish, DIG Monitiroing and Investigation Abdul Qadir Qayyum and SP Investigation Waqas Hassan.

The committee will prepare a detailed report relating to child abuse cases across the province and its current status and will present it before the IGP after completion.

 

SECURITY BEEFED UP AT KOT LAKHPAT JAIL: A heavy contingent of police and special commandos was deployed at the Kot Lakhpat prison on Tuesday after a threat issued by a banned militant outfit to attack the jail.

According to details, police blocked all roads leading to the Kot Lakhpat jail including the Kach’cha Jail road, in wake of arrests of various suspected members of Al-Qaeda from different parts of the city.

Police set up road blocks and check posts and entry to all kinds of traffic and pedestrians was closed. Sources said that the jail administration received a phone call, in which a banned outfit threatened to attack the jail to help the arrested members of the organisation escape.
