The Supreme Court on Monday asked the provincial governments to submit report about the progress made for holding local government (LG) polls.
While hearing the Balochistan law and order case at Quetta Registry, a three-member bench, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry, said the LG elections were being delayed. Around 80 percent problems faced by the people across the country would finish once the LG system is restored, Chaudhry remarked.
The representatives of all provinces briefed the court about progress made in holding LG polls.
The court directed the provinces to take steps for conducting LG polls. A written reply in this connection will be submitted before the court on Tuesday (today).
