Drive against electricity theft to help increase WAPDA revenue: Khawaja Asif

Minister of Water and Power, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, has said that the government is focusing on overcoming the energy crisis on a priority basis.

Talking in Sialkot‚ he said that concerted efforts are being made to complete power generation projects as early as possible.

Referring to a drive against electricity and gas pilferage‚ he said that it would be further accelerated across the country.

The Minister further said that the impact of the drive against electricity and gas theft would help in considerably increasing WAPDA’s revenue. Special steps are being taken to unearth WAPDA and Sui gas employees who are involved in this malpractice.

He stated that the government would take stern action against the people who are involved in this malpractice and are causing loss for the national exchequer just for their personal gains.

He said a large number of electricity and gas meters that were tampered with were detected during the drive and several members of the mafia were also arrested.
