Federally Administered Tribal Areas Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) Director and a leading physician from Kurram Agency Dr Mujahid Hussain was abducted from Peshawar on Saturday.
According to a source, unidentified men abducted the physician while he was going home in his car. The car was later recovered from Achini area near Hayatabad.
No one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping but it is believed that Hussain was abducted by militants.
One year ago, Hussain’s brother was mysteriously shot dead in Peshawar. Some of his close relatives have also become victims of violence.
Dr Mujahid hails from a well-established tribal family and belongs to the Shi’ite school of thought.
