Chinese companies ready to invest in energy sector

A number of Chinese companies have shown interest in investing in hydro, solar and wind power projects and help Pakistan overcome its energy problems.
Luo Sang, Vice Secretary of Sichuan Chamber of International Commerce, said this during a meeting with Zafar Bakhtawari, President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), here on Saturday. Lou Sang said he had come to Pakistan to explore its market for investment opportunities so that more Chinese companies should make direct investment and launch joint ventures here. He said Pakistani fruits were quite popular in China, especially in Sichuan province, and their exports could be enhanced by improving packaging quality.
He said the Sichuan Chamber of International Commerce was one of the biggest trade bodies of China and its main objective was to promote Chinese companies all over the world. He stressed for developing close liaison with Pakistani chambers of commerce for the promotion of trade and investment between the two countries.
Zafar Bakhtawari, on the occasion, said exchange of visits by the Pak-Chinese prime ministers had opened a new chapter of thriving relations between the two countries. He said the business communities were optimistic about the Pak-China economic corridor project as it would unravel a new phase of business and economic opportunities not only for the two countries, but also for the region.
