Country’s development, prosperity is govt’s top priority: Nawaz

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday expressed confidence that the government would succeed in eradicating terrorism and make the country peaceful.

Presiding over a meeting about the establishment of an anti-terrorism force, the prime minister said the formation of the force was the need of the hour and directed that the force be formed on an emergency basis.

Nawaz said the eradication of terrorism would attract foreign investment and make the country economically strong.

The prime minister was briefed about the steps taken to counter terrorism in Punjab and appreciated the initiatives of the Punjab government.

Later, presiding over a meeting about the construction and repair of roads in Lahore, the PM directed that encroachments along all major roads be removed, including those on Circular Garden Road, to ensure smooth traffic flow.

He said that the present government would provide relief to the people in all sectors as the development and prosperity of the country was its top priority.

The meetings were attended by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, chief secretary, Punjab police inspector general, Lahore Development Authority director general, district coordination officer, Ring Road Project director and other officials concerned.
