Sindh govt decides to register FIRs against criminals

The Sindh government has decided to ensure immediate registration of FIRs against criminals arrested by law enforcers during targeted operation in the city.
Besides, the rangers have been instructed to speed up the operation and make the city free form terrorists within the shortest possible time. The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah that reviewed the ongoing operation and law and order situation in Karachi.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, Sindh Chief Secretary Aijaz Chaudhry, IG Shahid Nadeem Baloch, Rangers DG Maj Gen Rizwan Akhtar and the advocate general.
A committee led by home secretary, will nominate the police stations where the criminal cases be registered against those arrested by the Rangers, it is learnt.
The CM praised the achievements of the Rangers and Sindh police for the successful operation against the terrorists, target killers, kidnappers and extortionists in Karachi, and directed them to speed up the operation. He said that the joint role of Rangers and police would go on until the complete success of the operation.
Shah said that full moral, administrative and legal support was being provided to the officials engaged in the operation and directed them to ensure the protection of lives and properties of common citizen at any cost.
He said Karachi was an important city and to maintain its peace was very much essential. He said that a good impact of the targeted operation has been reported.
Taking the notice of forcible strikes and violence, the CM asked the advocate general to propose legislation to get passed from the Sindh Assembly to prevent such illegal activities in the future.
The CM said that public perception about the forcible strikes was very much adverse and people were looking towards the government to help them earn their livelihood and send their children in schools in peaceful atmosphere.
He said, “We are determined to get the people of Karachi out of such forcible strikes and hope that people and business community will support the government in their own interest.”
The CM said that necessary amendments to be made in the existing laws of investigation, prosecution to ensure fair trial, legality of JIT and expeditious disposal of the cases.
He directed the officers to put all the entries and exit points of Karachi under strict vigilance to apprehend the criminals while fleeing from Karachi.
Shah also agreed with the proposal for handing the operational control of all CCTV cameras to the police.
The Sindh inspector general briefed the meeting about the raids, encounters, arrests and killing of criminals and seizure of arms and ammunition since September 5. He said that except killing of two police constables, no target killing has been reported so far.
He said during the forcible strikes on Wednesday the police arrested culprits on the spot while torching the vehicles. He said action was being taken against the criminals without any discrimination. The representatives from other law-enforcement agencies also briefed the meeting about the operation.
