Brian Vitori recorded his best bowling performance in Test cricket by taking five wickets for 61 runs in Pakistan’s first innings on the third day of the second Test match at Harare Sports Club on Thursday.
Before it Vitori’s best bowling figure in Test cricket was four for 66 against Bangladesh at Harare in 2011-12.
Vitori’s bowling figure was the second best for Zimbabwean bowler against Pakistan and fourth best overall. Heath Streak’s six for 90 in 1994-95 is the best bowling performance.
The 23-year old, Brian Vitori also became Zimbabwe’s sixth bowler on eighth occasions to take five-wicket haul against Pakistan in Tests. Heath Streak is the only Zimbabwean bowler to achieve this feat on three occasions while David Brain, Andy Blignaut, Henry Olonga and Paul Strang did the same once apiece.
Asad Shafiq completed his 4000 runs in 114 innings. The right hand batsman from Karachi, who made his first class debut for Karachi Whites against Hyderabad at Hyderabad on October 21,2007, took five years and 326 days to reach this landmark.
Abdur Rehman recieved his maiden duck in three innings of two Test matches against Zimbabwe. It was his fourth duck in 25 innings of 19 Test matches.
