Power and Water Minister Khawaja Asif and United States ambassador to Pakistan on Thursday inaugurated the Gomal Zam Dam project in FR Tank.
The dam with a capacity of 17.4 megawattas of electricity and 1.14 million acre feet water storage facility was constructed with USAID financial support of $97 million. The dam would irrigate around 200,000 acres of barren land of Dera Ismail Khan and Tank districts.
The construction work of the dam was started in late 90s and the process was completed after a series of ups and downs.
