Sindh urban areas go tense over arrest of former MQM MPA

The citizens in the cities and towns across Sindh reacted spontaneously against last night’s arrest of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA by coming out on the streets. The protesters retaliated against the highhandedness of the police by torching tyres and blocking roads on Wednesday morning.

According to details, shops, schools, CNG and petrol pumps closed soon after the protests began and the vehicles disappeared from the roads giving the city a look of an undeclared strike. Some unknown persons also torched a passenger coach near the jump at Nasir Colony, Korangi.

Reports from Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and a few other towns across Sindh said that the shops, CNG stations and road traffic in the respective towns were forced to close down as several youth and children voiced slogans, burned tyres in a protest against the MPA’s arrest.
