The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Tuesday moved a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging the newly scripted Punjab Local Body (LB) Election Law by which the LB elections would be held on a non-party basis.
The petition was moved by Punjab PTI President Ijaz Chaudhry. Through his counsel, the petitioner stated that the Punjab Assembly (PA) passed the law for holding LB elections on a non-party basis on August 21. He stated that this law was passed by turning down a series of amendments, including those for party-based elections.
He stated that the PA could not pass a law for holding non-party based polls as it was a direct violation of the country’s constitution. He requested the court to nullify the orders of holding the LB elections on a party basis as early as possible.

  1. Pujab govt should hold local elections based on party basis.
They should not behave like cowards.
That will be good for the party in the long run.
In the mean time they should hold intra party elections too.
