The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged the law to hold local bodies (LB) elections on non-party basis in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
Punjab PTI President Ijaz Chaudhry argued in petition that the Punjab Assembly has passed the law, which is against the constitution because the latter does not hold any such concept.
The petitioner said many of provisions of new law were unconstitutional which have been introduced only to make the LB system ineffective.
In the petition it has been requested that such provisions in new LB law should be declared null and orders be issued to conduct polls on party basis.
