Reiterating his resolve to introduce a uniformed education policy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said education and health sectors topped the agenda of the KP government, which already had initiated reforms to improve literacy rate and reduce school drop-out ratio.
Addressing a function in connection with the Children’s Enrolment Campaign at Govt High School No 1 Peshawar Cantonment, Imran said the introduction of a uniformed and single syllabus was a must in order to attain glory among the comity of nations. Without education, the dream of success could not be materialized, he added.
He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had already started reforms in the education sector to provide uniformed education to all irrespective of caste and creed.
He said in civilised countries, education system was the same for the poor and the rich. The PTI would try to end the class-based system of education, he added.
Imran said he would persuade overseas Pakistanis to help revamp the education sector in KP.
He said KP was badly affected by militancy and terrorism and his party was endeavouring to bring peace there, which would help bring foreign investments in social sector.
Imran said the KP government had declared educational emergency in the province and record allocation had been made in the budget to bring reforms. He said efforts were being made to bring maximum children to school and discourage school dropout ratio.
He claimed that the maximum issues raised by his party at the All Parties Conference had been accommodated in the final communique.
Dialogue was the only option to tackle militancy and it would help restore peace in the country, he added.
KP CM Pervez Khattak, Education Minister Muhammad Atif, Health Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, PTI leaders, children and parents attended the function. On the occasion, dozens of children were enrolled.
