Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Lahore Women Wing President and Punjab Assembly Member (MPA) Faiza Malik on Tuesday urged the Punjab government to hold the local bodies (LB) elections as early as possible and on a party basis.
The LB system is vital for resolving the common man’s problems at his doorstep, Faiza said in a statement.
She said that a democratic government in power means that there is no need to hold party-less elections.
“Participating in the elections is the constitutional right of every political party. Therefore, these LB elections must be held on party basis,” she said.
Faiza stressed that LB polls on a party basis will help strengthen democracy and will also build public confidence in the LB system.
