President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday held a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Saddar to discuss the political and law and order situation and other matters of national interest.
During the meeting, Zardari congratulated the prime minister for successfully conducting the All Parties Conference (APC) and the announcement of a joint declaration on national security.
The prime minister apprised President Mamnoon and Zardari about the decisions taken in the APC and expressed hope that the decisions would help cope with terrorism and the law and order situation in the country.
“It is a good omen that all political parties reached a consensus during the APC,” Nawaz said, adding that it was “in the best interests of the country”
He said the government had decided to hold talks with the Taliban after reaching all the participants of the APC reached the consensus.
Sources said Zardari also thanked the PM for holding a luncheon in his honour on his departure from the Presidency, saying it “set a new democratic tradition”.
