A delegation of the Senate’s Defence and Defence Production Committee, led by its chairman Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, will leave for Kabul today (Monday) to initiate the first parliamentary security dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
During the four-day visit, the delegation will meet its counterpart in the Afghan parliament and Afghanistan leaders, including President Hamid Karzai.
The delegation is also expected to meet NATO forces Commander in Afghanistan General Dunforth.
The visit is part of an initiative taken during Karzai’s recent visit to Islamabad to bring Pakistan and Afghanistan together before the upcoming withdrawal of the NATO forces from Afghanistan in 2014.
The delegation will include parliamentarians Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Mohammad Khan Shirani, Haji Adeel, Afrasiab Khattak, Najma Hameed, Sehar Kamran, Jehangir Badar and Farhatullah Babar.
