Teachers’ recruitments in Punjab postponed

Punjab government has postponed the recruitment of teachers throughout the province as new schedule of the recruitments is expected to be announced in November.
The teachers’ recruitment has been postponed to complete the ongoing rationalisation of teachers for primary, middle and high schools in the province.
During the rationalisation, schools with very low number of students will be merged and the teachers would be declared surplus. These surplus teachers will be adjusted in other schools.
Provincial education department sources said that it is expected that number of previously announced vacancies of teachers in the province will decrease.
New recruitments will be made on five-year contracts from now on with zero perks. Sources also said that that new recruitments will be made through the proposed District Education Authorities.
