Islamabad highway submerged in darkness

Out of order lights on Islamabad Highway have caused several major accidents during the night.

Heavy traffic on the inter-provincial highway is endangering motorists due to non-functional lights.

The residents of PWD Colony said that lights installed on the road from Karal Chowk to Rawat were removed a few years ago for unknown reasons making it difficult for the motorists to drive at night.

Alternatively, lights installed in different sectors of the capital are also dysfunctional creating inconvenience for the residents. The residents of Sectors G-10, G-6 and G-7 complained that due to out of order streetlights street crime is also on the rise.

When contacted, a Capital Development Authority (CDA) official said that it was aware of the problems being faced by the citizens and said that the lights would be re-installed within a month.
