Erstwhile prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday sought the help of an elderly pro-Taliban cleric for release of his abducted son, Ali Haider Gilani.

Gilani approached Samiul Haq, nicknamed the “Father of the Taliban” in district Nowshehra of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sami assured all out support for the recovery of Ali. Maulana told Gilani that his son was alive and would be released soon.

Ali Haider was abducted from Multan, hometown of Gilani, during an election gathering held for the Pakistan People’s Party.

Since then, there is no clue of his son despite all of his influences and contacts. He is believed to be abducted by the Taliban, and meeting of Yousuf Gilani with Samiul Haq is a bid to have access to these the kidnappers.
