Rawalpindi District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajid Zafar said that public-private partnership is being made effective to achieve 100 percent target of ongoing Emergency Enrollment Scheme (EES).
While chairing a meeting of District Steering Committee of EES he said that teachers, principals, elected representatives and officials of district administration were working hard to enroll out-of-school children deprived of the basic right of education due to poverty including other reasons.
The meeting was attended by the district administration officials, representatives of NGOs and Education Department, MNAs and MPAs including Malik Ibrar Ahmad, Tahira Aurangzaib, Maryam Aurangzaib, Sarfraz Afzal, Raja Muhammad Ali, Advocate Raja Muhammad Hanif, Zaib-un-Nisa Awan, Lubna Tahseen Fawad, Raja Attique Sarwar, Hafiz Usman Abbasi, EDO (Education) Qazi Zahoor-ul-Haq, DMO Saima Younas and ACs of all districts.
EDO (Education) Qazi Zahoor-ul-Haq informed the meeting that enrollment of 12,000 children from aged from 5 to 9years was the set target for Rawalpindi district which was fixed by the Punjab government, while 30 percent of the target has been achieved so far.
“Efforts are underway to achieve the remaining target till October 30 this year,” he added.
Addressing the meeting, Malik Ibrar Ahmad, Tahira Aurangzaib, Maryam Aurangzaib, Sarfraz Afzal, Raja Muhammad Ali, Advocate Raja Muhammad Hanif, Zaib-un-Nisa Awan, Lubna Tahseen Fawad, Raja Attique Sarwar and Hafiz Usman Abbasi said that efforts would be made at Union Council level realise the dream of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
They said that the elected representatives would convince the parents to send their children to school. Moreover, syllabus books would be provided by the government free of cost and they would seek help of philanthropists to provide school bags, sweets and toys to encourage children and to control the drop out rate.
“The confidence of parents in government schools would be restored and every possible effort would be made in this regard,” they added.
The DCO directed the ACs to monitor the scheme in their respective areas for its successful implementation. He also instructed that the services of officials of every department should be utilised for the purpose.
The DCO ordered the EDO (Education) to prepare a list of MNAs and MPAs involved in the campaign and to utilise all available resources to make it a success.
