Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi has sent summary in connection with increase in monthly water bills to district government for approval.
DCO Rawalpindi has directed for increase in water bill at uniform rate in respect of domestic and commercial consumers and demanded for a summary in the meeting of Rawalpindi Development Authority.
Sources said that tariff for domestic consumers was to be increased by 100 percent and tariff for commercial consumers by 150 percent.
If the new tariff is approved the water bill of 5 marla house will increase from Rs 98 to Rs 180 per month, 7 marla house from Rs 160 to Rs 300, 10 marla house from Rs 220 to Rs 440, 10 to 15 marla house from Rs 250 to Rs 500, 15 to 20 marla house from Rs 375 to Rs 750, 20 to 25 marla house from Rs 625 to Rs 1000, 25 to 30 marla house from Rs 688 to 1,200 and lager houses beyond 30 marlas from Rs 883 to Rs 1,600.
A Better step would be of meter based charging. You pay according to ur usage. People around us don’t have access to enough water to complete their drinking needs and we are wasting drinkable water for washing our doorways and vehicles.
