Capital Development Authority (CDA) Director Water Management Zulfiqar Khan Jadoon said on Friday that there is no water shortage in the federal capital as sufficient water is available to meet the needs of residents for the next six months

He said, “We have enough water reserves in Simly Dam and Rawal Dam which can meet the needs of the residents till February 2014.” Zulfiqar Khan said that CDA has taken measures for smooth water supply to the capital’s residents.

He said that water level in Simly and Khanpur dams is touching the brim due to recent monsoon rains, adding that Water Management Wing has formulated a strategy to meet the water requirements of the citizens. He further said that repair and maintenance work has also been expedited on dysfunctional tube wells to increase the water supply.

Replying to a question, the director said that out of 37 water filtration plants CDA has made 33 functional to provide clean drinking water to the residents.

“Water filtration plants have been made operational after replacing water filters and repair and maintenance work,” he added. He also said that it was the top priority of the civic body to provide clean drinking water to the citizens.

Zulfiqar Khan urged the residents not to waste water and to preserve it.
