According to Pakistan it is working on fixing a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly with the objective of restarting bilateral peace talks.
Government spokesman Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said Islamabad has always supported a policy of restraint, responsibility and dialogue in the larger interest of ensuring peace in South Asia.
According to the Daily Times, relations between the two South-Asian countries have got further strained since the August 5 and 6 incidents of ceasefire violations that killed five Indian soldiers in Poonch district.
Delhi blamed the incident on the Pakistani army, but Islamabad denied any responsibility.
