Capital pays tribute to September 6 martyrs

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandela on Friday said that September 6 commemorates a bright chapter in the history of Pakistan as the enemy suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of Pakistani soldiers.

He expressed this view while addressing a ceremony on the occasion of Defence Day at the Naval Complex.

He said, “Today is a bright chapter in the history of Pakistan as it reminds us of the heroic struggle by our brave martyrs against the nefarious designs of the enemy.”

He remarked that even after a lapse of 48 years the importance of this day remains the same. The navel chief said that Pakistan navy remained dominant in the face of the enemy during the war which has proved the formidable power of the navy in the region. “The nation’s trust on our existence and professional capability is our actual heritage and ultimate victory,” he added.

SUNNI TEHRIK OBSERVES DEFENCE DAY: Sunni Tehrik (ST) Friday organised rallies to pay tributes to the Pakistan Army for offering sacrifices in during the Indo-Pak war of 1965.

Addressing the rallies, ST Divisional President Mufti Liaquat Ali Rizvi paid rich tributes to Pakistan Army for defending the motherland with great vigour and enthusiasm.

Sunni Tehrik also held Quran khawani at their offices and prayed for those martyred in the war.

Moreover, welcoming the All Parties Conference (APC) he urged the political parties to make it result oriented.

KASHMIR WALK ORGANISED TO MARK DEFENCE DAY: Youth Forum for Kashmir (YFK) on Friday organised ‘Kashmir Walk’ to mark the Defense Day.

The aim of the walk was to highlight the long-standing issue of Kashmir and to emphasise the importance for resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

On the occasion, the masses demanded the United Nations (UN) Organisation to implement resolutions and grant right of self-determination to the oppressed people of Indian Occupied Kashmir.

The walk started from Beverly Centre and ended at D-Chowk, Blue Area. A large number of people participated in the walk carrying placards inscribed with freedom slogans for Kashmir.
