What will we eat if not wheat? PML-Q submit motion against wheat price increase

Punjab Assembly (PA) members belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) submitted an adjournment motion in the assembly’s secretariat against the recent increase in wheat prices.
Amir Sultan Cheema, Sardar Waqas Hassan Moakal and Ahmed Shah Khugha submitted the motion.
The PML-Q lawmakers held the viewpoint in the motion that the Punjab government, after purchasing wheat at Rs 1,250 per mount, had fixed its rate for flour mills at Rs 1,330 per mount, which would increase the price of Roti (bread). Furthermore, they claimed that it was the provincial government’s responsibility to control the prices of basic necessities such as flour. They pleaded to the PA speaker to allow for an open debate on the motion after the declaration of the adjournment motion as per assembly regulations.
The Punjab government mounted the price of wheat for flourmills by Rs 205 per 40 kilograms. A special committee held a meeting under Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore. The committee fixed the price of wheat, stocked in public depots, for flourmills at Rs 1,330 per 40 kilograms this year. Last year, the price of wheat was fixed at Rs 1,025.
