Punjab Secretary Health Hassan Iqbal visited the Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi on Thursday.
He was accompanied by MNA Malik Ibrar Ahmed, MPA Malik Iftikhar Ahmed and ex-MPA Zia Ullah Sah. Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) Chairman Board of Governors and allied hospitals Dr Muhammad Aslam was also present at the occasion.
RMC Principal and allied hospitals Professor Muhammad Umar along with Medical Superintendent (MS) Holy Family Hospital, District Headquarters and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed hospitals briefed the secretary about the pace of on-going projects relating to civil works, provision of health facilities and extension of medical education in RMC and allied hospitals.
Health Secretary Hassan Iqbal emphasised the need of promoting medical ethics in the syllabus of health education and said that young doctors should devote themselves for extending best healthcare facilities to the people.
He said that it is the government’s top priority to resolve the problems of young doctors concerning their service structure and promotions were being considered on merit basis. He also said that efforts were being made to minimise the burden on big hospitals by provision of specialised medical treatment facilities in basic and rural health centers.
The health secretary during visit of various sections of Holy Family Hospital inquired about the standard of medical facilities and provision of medicines from the patients admitted in the wards and OPD.
Talking to media, he disclosed that the process of completing documentation is underway and a number of doctors will be promoted to the next grade after fulfilling necessary formalities.
During a detailed briefing Professor Umer highlighted the achievements of RMC and allied hospitals and the medical requirements. The Chairman Board of Governor Dr Muhammad Aslam said donations of millions of rupees were received for provision of health facilities.
Furthermore, MNA Malik Ibrar Ahmed said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has given due priority on up gradation of educational health projects in Rawalpindi and all required funds would be provided to complete education and health reform programs.
