The spokesman of Prime Minister’s House has clarified that Zulifqar Cheema has not been appointed as inspector general of Sindh.
Earlier, it was reported that the federal government had appointed Cheema as Sindh IG.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah expressed his annoyance at the decision of removal of the Sindh IG without his consent.
Talking to a private television channel, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said the federal government was pushing the province towards Governor’s rule and the PML-N was repeating politics of 90s.
He said that the Sindh government and the PPP would resist Cheema’s appointment.
Memon said Cheema was the PML-N’s favourite official and his brother is PML-N MNA from Gujranwala.
He said that the mandate of opposition parties should be respected and they should be taken onboard on decisions to strengthen democracy.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while chairing cabinet meeting in Karachi on Wednesday said the government was not in a hurry to launch any operation in Karachi.
The meeting was also attended by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and CM Qaim Ali Shah.
