Accused in explosive-laden vehicle case arrested

Police have managed to arrest a man suspected of planting explosives to a vehicle for carrying out a terrorist attack in the federal capital.

The car had been impounded by the law enforcement officials last Friday.

The vehicle, carrying a fake registration number, was registered in the name of a Rawalpindi resident.

According to intelligence agencies’ investigations, some important revelations regarding a key accused in the case, Hammad Adil, were disclosed.

Sources said that Adil had taken jihadi training and the family members of the accused said he had left home six years ago.

The accused had also planned to bring two to three explosive-laden vehicles into Islamabad. The sources claimed that Adil revealed to the interrogators that the purpose of the plan was to attack Pervez Musharraf and some important installations in the federal capital.
