Naval officer among eight killed in Karachi firing

As many as eight people, including a naval captain, a Rangers’ official and three alleged terrorists, were killed in various incidents of firing in Karachi on Wednesday, as violence continued in the city despite the government’s efforts to curb the ongoing incidents of targeted killings.

According to details, unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on Navy Captain Nadeem’s car, killing him on the spot and injuring his wife near Karachi’s National Stadium. The attackers managed to flee.

In another incident, three suspected militants were killed and a Rangers official martyred in an encounter at Baghdadi area of LyariTown.

On a tip-off that some hardened criminals were hiding in Baghdadi area of LyariTown, a Rangers team swiftly went into action and cordoned off the area and asked the accused to surrender. However, the criminals opened gunfire that left one official dead, while three alleged terrorists were also killed.

According to police, a man was gunned down in Shah Faisal Colony. The deceased was identified as Umair whose body was taken to JinnahHospital for medico-legal formalities.

In another incident, two bodies were found near old Haji Camp located in Old City Area and Pak Colony.

Furthermore, eight people allegedly involved in gang war crimes were arrested during police operation in Mawacch Goth.

A large cache of arms was also seized from the arrested men while a proclaimed offender involved in street crimes was arrested during police encounter in Saifi area of Baghdadi.
