CDA fails to complete signal project on time: Senate body

The Senate’s Standing Committee on Cabinet and Capital Administration and Development on Wednesday expressed concerns over the poor performance of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), saying it failed to complete signal project on schedule time.
The committee met at Parliament House, chaired by its chairwoman Senator Kalsoom Parveen.
Senator Mushahid Ullah, Senator Dr. Saeeda Iqbal, Senator Syeda Sughra Imam, Senator Rubina Khalid, Senator Mir Muhammad Yousaf Badini, Senator Saifullah Magsi, Senator Baz Muhammad Khan, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Senator Begum Najma Hameed and Senator Haji Ghulam Ali also attended the meeting.
The committee said that the affectees of announced sectors are waiting for plot allotment for more than 40 years. The committee said that due to non-completion of CDA residential projects, the civic body image damaging badly.
The committee said that to hide illegal action in the G-9 Markaz commercial plot and corruption, the judicial commission was provided baseless facts and figure.
The committee also said now the CDA officials were trying to misguide lawmakers and the committee, adding that CDA was using delaying tactics in providing detailed information to the committee.
The committee directed the CDA chairman to appear before it in the next meeting with detail information about all projects.
The committee also directed CDA to remove illegal auto workshops in Sector G-7 adjacent to residential areas. The committee said that the activities of auto-workshops are creating problems for the residents. Earlier, the senior officials of CDA briefed the committee on Plot No.29 G-9, Islamabad, Park Enclave Scheme and complaints received against auctions committee during last five years.
