Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate government’s top priority: Sarwar

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that establishment of Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate is top priority of the government.
He exchanged these views with a delegation of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) led its President Manzar Khurshid Sheikh on Tuesday at his office. Senior Vice President Pervaiz Ahmed Warriach and Member Executive Committee Chaudhry Jamil were also a part of the delegation.
He said that construction of Gems and Jewellery Development Center is the need of the hour to promote the industry as the region has vast potential in the sector. The governor said that the government is serious in making Rawalpindi the most developed city of Pakistan and also plans to initiate metro bus service. “Rawalpindi Chamber is playing a key role in the national economic uplift within and outside the country. The government will support single country expos started by the Rawalpindi Chamber and no stone will be left unturned in this regard,” he opined.
He remarked that Rawalpindi has a lot of geographical importance and the government is sincere to establish an economic zone in the region to promote industrial activities. “The business community can play a vital role in eliminating unemployment from the country and the government is committed to support businessmen in every way to make the country economically strong,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, RCCI President Manzar Khurshid Sheikh said that Rawalpindi is a growing industrial city and provides a trading corridor among China, Afghanistan, Kashmir and Central Asian states. “The prime minister’s announcement of constructing road and rail track from Gwadar to Khunjrab will boost the importance of this region,” he added. He urged the governor to play his role in the early establishment of Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate and Gems and Jewellery Development Centre.
The governor lauded the role of RCCI and assured his full cooperation in this regard.
