Assefa to lead PPP after Zardari’s retirement

With rift widening between PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his aunt Faryal Talpur, Assefa Bhutto Zardari will work shoulder-to-shoulder with President Zardari for the party’s revival.
Though, President Zardari has three children, but – Assefa Bhutto Zardari – resembles her mother Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in December 27, 2007 in the garrison town of Rawalpindi.
However, Bilawal will be the last option if the PPP leadership realised that Assefa could not do the job, sources at the Zardari House said.
While the national and international newspapers have highlighted serious differences between President Zardari and Bilawal. However, the PPP leadership has always contradicted the news, saying that there is no rift between the family members.
Moreover, sources claimed Bilawal was trying to take Zulfikar Junior and Fatima Bhutto, his cousins onboard, but Zardari is against the plan.
The insiders at the Zardari House, the house where Assefa and Bakhawar used to live with Faryal, said Assefa had a vision that could take the PPP to the highest peak.
Assefa has been engaged in getting briefings from the party leadership as well as the government officials at the Zardari House and Bilawal House. And she has been undergoing political training from her father President Zardari, the insiders said.
“All three children of slain PPP chairwoman Benazir Bhutto are the heroes and everyone amongst them has the ability to run the party,” said Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who is also the PPP deputy information secretary.
“President Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar, Assefa and other leaders have a lot of respect amongst the jiyalas and they are all together would help revive the party in future”, Memon added.
