Darmiyaan story about revenge and rebelliousness is titled ‘Darmiyaan’. This is the story of a young woman who sets out to seek revenge for her elder sister. A sister who after being wrongly accused, loses not only the man of her dreams, but also her touch with reality. Revenge is a bitter pill that can destroy a person, a family and even someone’s sanity.
The cast of ‘Darmiyaan’ includes Adnan Siddiqi, Sania Saeed, Syra Yousuf, Javeria Abbasi, Sajida Syed, Humera Ali and others. Javeria Abbasi too will be seen after a long time in any drama.
Moving on towards a drama that took an expected but rather unwelcome turn, what happened in ‘Kankar’ was not a surprise. From the promos that came on air even before the drama started airing, I knew that this would be another drama about the various bumps in a couples married life. However, I could have easily watched a bit more of how Sikandar pampered his new wife.
Sikander’s personality was shady right from the beginning. He does not know how to compromise and is used to getting all his demands and wishes fulfilled. He wanted Kiran and did everything in his power to get her. After a beautiful yet brief honeymoon period, he is finally showing his true colors to his beloved as well.
The aggressiveness in his personality was fuelled further by his mothers ‘advice’ about how wives should be kept. She had been adamant that Kiran comes from a rather ‘humble’ background and should be treated a certain way so she doesn’t forget her roots.
For some time, I did feel that Kiran was taking Sikander’s leniency for granted. Our society does not allow wives to go out without the husband’s permission and this young heroine should be no exception. However, she went off to her mother’s house without letting Sikander know. This small event acted like a trigger and unveiled our hero’s real personality. Kiran is surely in for a bumpy ride ahead.
