Pakistan, Russia hold first ever strategic dialogue

Pakistan and the Russian Federation held first ever interaction on the strategic dialogue. The consultations were held at the level of foreign secretaries in Moscow.

Both sides noted with satisfaction the growing understanding between the two countries and discussed in detail the state of bilateral relations.

This reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening and diversifying the bilateral relationship to their mutual benefit. Both the sides agreed on the need for maintaining high-level contacts with view to sustaining the present momentum in bilateral cooperation.

In addition to this‚ both the sides exchanged views on regional and international issues. The two sides agree to continue to work closely in this regard. Views were exchanged on expanding trade and investment relations and cooperation in the field of energy and power generation.

Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani led the Pakistani side while the Russian side was led by First Deputy Minister Vladimir Gennadievich Titov of the Russian Foreign Office. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russian Federation Alamgir Babur and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov also participated in the consultations.
