Industries Minister Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi on Thursday informed the Upper House of parliament that there is no suggestion under consideration to privatize the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM). To a calling attention notice raised by the Senator Raza Rabbani, the minister said the government was taking effective steps to enable its functioning. He said that in this regard government has made comprehensive bailout package and sent recommendations to ECC. He said that old board of steel mills has been dissolved and new board would be formed soon. Earlier, Senator Raza Rabbani said that Pakistan Steel Mills is the strategic asset of the country and its privatization should be stopped. He said that bailout package could not be given to steel mills in past regime adding that only commercial loan was given to PSM.
