Punjab government has decided to ban all kinds of unions in government institutions including those of teachers throughout the province.
The ban comes after the directives of the Punjab Chief Minster Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and notification in this regard has also been issued. Associations have been excluded from the ban.
It may be mentioned that earlier reacting to the news of this ban, teachers unions and educationists had expressed concern and strongly rejected the ban. However, the final notification has spread anxiety and frustration among the educationists and a strategy is being devised to react to the government’s decision.
