The Supreme Court on Friday barred President Asif Ali Zardari from leaving the country in connection with the investigations to be held on the Abbottabad operation conducted by the United States on May 2, 2011 to kill al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

The SC issued a notice to the federal government to bar Zardari from leaving the country to enable him to be present for a court hearing on the Abbottabad Commission revelations.

The court has also formed a two-member bench under the supervision of Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and the case’s hearing is scheduled for September 3.

Zardari will be completing his presidential tenure on September 8.

The Abbottabad Commission’s report had earlier revealed the incompetence of the Pakistan government to track bin Laden’s hideout.

The US Navy SEALs team had conducted a two-hour operation to kill bin Laden on the soil of Pakistan without the government knowing about it.
