Chief Secretary Javed Aslam on Wednesday presided over a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review the province’s flood relief arrangements.
Additional Chief Secretary Mirza Sohail Aamir, Local Government Secretary Jawwad Rafique Malik, Implementation and Coordination Secretary Ali Tahir, Lahore Commissioner Imdad Ullah Bosal, Information and Culture Secretary Momin Agha and PDMA and Livestock Department Officials also participated in the meeting.
Aslam reviewed the arrangements for receding of flood water made by different departments. He expressed his satisfaction over the flood arrangements made by the concerned departments. He directed the District Coordination Officers to make their utmost efforts for reducing the flood water levels and for providing relief to the flood affectees. Aslam warned the authorities concerned that no laxity or negligence would be tolerated in the relief and rehabilitation activities for the flood affectees.
He said that the District Governments and the Health Department needed to make joint efforts to provide basic health facilities to the flood-victims at their camps through mobile teams. He said that the institutions concerned needed to maintain close contact with each other to control any untoward situation arising out of rains and potential floods.
